What started out as a bit of Christmas fun was the beginning of Rodney Vincent’s latest CD release “It’s a wonderful time of the year”.
Over the years Rodney has sung many Christmas songs and also wrote a couple as well . It was while putting down some tracks for a new release with producer Michael Cristiano , that Rodney recorded a couple of Christmas songs for his family and friends . One of the most popular was the “Aussie Jingle Bells” which is to the tune of the crowd favorite and much loved singalong “Jingle Bells” , and a song that many don’t know called , “Christmas in Australia” written by a wonderful Australian singer Diana Trask . The backing vocals was supplied by one of the best in the business , Lisa Edwards (from the John Farnham Band) along with some students from her singing school , to create a real happy spirit of Christmas .
Both tracks came up great and then it was , well what about this song , what about that one , and before long a new CD was in the making .
Rodney co wrote the title track with Allan Caswell “It’s a wonderful time of the year” and also wrote “Look who’s back in town” which is in a medley with “Here Comes Santa Claus” . One of his favorite tracks is a song written by Willie Nelson “Pretty Paper” with the backing vocals of Lisa Edwards , she is just fantastic . “Cool Rocking Santa” is a song written by the very well known singer songwriter Greg Champion , from the ABC Coodabeans radio show and it really rocks , along with the ever popular “Rocking around the Christmas Tree” , “Jingle Bell Rock” , “Santa Looks a lot Like Daddy” and “I’ll be home with bells on”.
One of the songs Rodney can really relate to is “Driving Home for Christmas” as he spends many months of the year touring on the road and away from his family . “I know it is what I do and what I love entertaining ” he says , but Christmas time is very special and can’t wait to spend time at home and be with all of my family and friends .
The album has 14 tracks and of course there are some songs you just can’t leave out like “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” and a “Christmas Medley” of “We need a little Christmas , Christmas Alphabet , Rudolph the red nosed reindeer and Frosty the snowman that we can all sing along to .
