Rodney’s latest CD “Havin a bit of Fun” ( with some mates) has been nominated in the Victorian Country Music Awards for “Album of the Year” , and also his duet from the same album “I go to Pieces” with country singer and music producer Michael Cristian has been nominated in the Duet section .
The cd is of a country / rock’n’roll style with songs that toke him back to when he first started out . The cd evolved from the songs of Johnny O’keefe of which Rodney has been doing a medley for many years , and people would often ask , have you got a cd with some rock’n’roll songs on it , the answer was no , so with the help of music producer Michael Cristian they sat down and started to put together some all time favourite songs .
Havin a bit of Fun” was just that , a lot of fun , lots of laughs and with the help of some wonderful and very talented mates , which Rodney cannot thank enough , such as the late great rock’n’roll legend Gene Pitney , who co wrote and sang on “Lets not make the same mistake again” an honour that Rodney treasures in his career and is even more precious with the passing of Gene in April 06 , “Itsy bitsy teenie weenie yellow polka dot bikini” was just a laugh a minute to record with two wonderful performers Donna Fisk and Lisa Edwards , Wilbur went “wild” on his sax on “The Wanderer” and Old time rock’n’roll , and the award nominated track with Rodney and Michael Cristian “I go to Pieces” is a gem , David Briggs from the former LRB plays sensational guitar on “Bop” , and with Rodney’s very dear friend and mate George Harvey from the 4 Kinsman , the remake of “ It’s only make believe” is a show stopper .
So with all these people involved “Havin a bit of Fun” , no matter what the final result is a winner and one that will played at many party nights for years to come .
