Rodney Vincent’s new CD/DVD “Music Memories and Madness” has received 4 top 10 nominations in this years 2008 “Victorian Country Music” Awards to be held at Whittlesea in February.
“Music Memories and Madness” CD/DVD is a double pack, which combines of a lot of hard work over many years in his entertaining career that has taken him all over Australia. It is just what it says, a mixture of 16 of his most requested songs on a CD, and a DVD of songs, story telling, live “in concert” comedy performances, (hence the madness), and a few memories thrown in along the way that will put a smile on your face .
The tracks nominated from ‘Music Memories and Madness” in this years awards are for “Album of the Year”, “Victorian Group or Duo” of the year , for the song “We’re from the Country” a duet with Country music producer and singer Michael Cristian, the “Trailblazers Heritage Award” for the song that touched many hearts and memories “Grandma’s House” , which is about Rodney’s childhood days spent at his Grandma’s House and co written with Gold Guitar winner Allan Caswell and Al Craig .
Rodney also teamed up once again with Allan Caswell and Al Craig to write a song titled, “It’s different since the city came to town” , an idea Rodney came up with after a tragedy in the main street of his home town, he realized his little country town was not a country town anymore, things were changing. This song has been nominated for the “Duet of the Year” with Allan Caswell.
For Rodney awards are not high on his list of do’s but as he says “it’s nice to receive some recognition along the way, the most important thing is that the people enjoy my show and sense of humor, and come away with a smile on their face, that for me is the most satisfying thing of all” .
Last year together with the Wandin Lions Club in Victoria , Rodney helped raise money to send a paraplegic friend to the World Paraplegic Sailing Championships in Canada, “it was one of the best nights I have ever had, to think we were able to help some one achieve an almost impossible dream, just a sensational feeling ” Rodney said.
In 2008 Rodney’s calander is busier than ever, and so it should be as he has proven himself to be one of the best variety entertainers , and this his latest release “Music Memories and Madness” will prove to be very popular..
